Catholic Social Ethics. Perhaps something of what Fr. Cartagenas envisions in his essay may be seen in the article written by Eric Marcelo O. Genilo, S.J., Professor of Moral Theology at the Loyola School of Theology. In “A Different Paradigm: Amending the Reproductive Health Bill,” Fr. Genilo tackles the issue of House Bill 5043 on “Reproductive Health and Population Development” proposed by some members of the House of Representatives of the Philippine Congress. This is not the first time that Fr. Genilo has addressed this issue, but the article he has written attempts to critically and constructively engage the public sphere and to propose creative ways for committed Christians to enter the political process in order to promote their own vision of life. His call for “critical and constructive engagement” certainly deserves to be heard and put into practice. – from the Editor’s Preface
