Catechism for Filipino Catholics. In the interest of promoting critical thinking and respectful discussion, the editors readily agreed to have a second article by Joseph Roche, S.J. published in this issue. The article, “Catechesis as Ministry of the Word: A Defense of the National Catechism,” responds to a critical review of the Catechism for Filipino Catholics written by Rafael Dy-Liacco and published as “Catechesis is a Practice of Faith: A Critique of the National Catechism,” in Diwa: Studies in Philosophy and Theology 33:1 (2008), 88-108, the journal of the Divine Word Seminary in Tagaytay. Dy-Liacco’s essay “provides the occasion for bringing out needed clarifications and positive guidelines for a more effective study and use of our national catechetical tool, created precisely to aid, support and raise the quality of Catholic catechesis throughout our country.” – from the Editor’s Preface
