Bienvenido Q. Baisas, O.F.M. poses a challenge to the Catholic Biblical Association of the Philippines to inculturate our Filipino faith in our local language—Tagalog. The author contends that Mitchell Dahood, S.J.’s magnum opus (Psalms I-III in the Anchor Bible series) “should serve us as a model in the mission of translating not only the Psalms but also the other poetic parts of the TaNaK” (113). Baisas exemplifies such an endeavor in the translation of Psalm 109 based on the Hebrew text “in accord with the principles of NWS poetry developed by Dahood” (113).
