Those who know Bishop Chito can see and hear him in vivo as they read. There are some instructive, more properly theological pages; there is sharp insight which suddenly strikes one unexpectedly and strongly. There is much human and religious richness in these addresses, which I trust will be recognized and appreciated, not only by those who already know him well, but by others who will make his first acquaintance through this collection. These speeches and papers will reveal Bishop Chito as a figure of intelligence and learning who has already earned an enviable place in the Christian community in our country and other Asian countries, and even beyond. They will reveal him as a man of gaudium et spes, of joy and hope.
