Amidst these challenges, people grapple with meaning and ask, “Why?” — followed by pleas for God to speak and allow believers to understand what is happening in the world. The global and planetary contexts make the call to be “Pilgrims of Hope” in 2025 a necessity. It is to this call that we, as members of the Catholic Biblical Association of the Philippines, are impelled to respond through meaning-making, by pleading “Speak, Lord…,” by listening to God’s Word, and by embodying the example of the Word-Made-Flesh.

In this special issue of Landas for the silver Jubilee of the CBAP, we present a glimpse of how our community of exegetes in the Philippines grapple with and yearn for God’s presence in these critical times. Most of these critical analyses and reflections were presented at the 25th Annual Convention in Mère Monique Retreat House, Iloilo City, on September 20-22, 2024.
