Not all the contributors to this issue of Landas are educators by profession; yet, through their diverse theological reflections, they may be regarded as little “doctors of the Church,” each offering a luminous insight into the Church’s enduring call to holiness and the many ways Christians today can respond with fidelity, discernment, and hope. In the spirit of what this publication celebrates—Newman’s elevation to the rank of Doctor of the Church—the diverse articles included in this collection may be read as tiny, fragmentary, yet meaningful guideposts along the journey toward personal and communal sanctity, shedding light on theology, moral discernment, and spiritual life. In this way, the authors accompany readers much as saints and educators like Newman and Aquinas accompany the faithful, guiding them in the pursuit of truth, the cultivation of virtue, and the living out of a life that is both faithful and hope-filled, amid the manifold complexities and challenges of the world. In our ongoing quest for fresh voices and new insights to illuminate the rich tapestry of theology, we welcome this wide-ranging array of themes that explore both the life of the Church and the study of theology.
