Mariology and Ecumenism. The first article, “Mary is for all Christians,” was written by Joaquin C. Yap after he was appointed to the Jaime Cardinal Sin Professorial Chair for Marian Studies of the Loyola School of Theology several years ago. The obvious significance of Yap’s article for ecumenical dialogue among the Churches in the Philippines is borne out by his judicious, sensitive and profound tackling of issues connected to Mariology, which aims to contribute to an “irenic, responsible and convergent way of relating with the mother of Jesus, both doctrinally and devotionally.” Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant perspectives are brought into play in order to ground Marian doctrine and practice that are “ecumenically sensitive, theologically sound, and devotionally sincere.” – from the Editor’s Preface
