The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) describes the ecological crisis as the “ultimate pro-life issue.” Pope Francis points out in Laudato Si’ (LS), his encyclical letter on the care for our “common home,” that the human and natural environments deteriorate together and that such degradation affects the world’s poorest and most vulnerable populations.
