Advocating the crafting of inculturated catechisms, Fr. William M. Parde, Jr. in “The FABC Vision of Inculturation and the Pedagogical Renewal of Catechesis in the Philippines,” calls for a pedagogy of faith that is built, not from the desks of catechetical authorities but from the ground. In this process of renewal, made necessary by changing times and circum- stances, he finds a rallying point and guiding principle in the FABC’s call for inculturation understood as “dialogue.” At the same time, he identifies a number of continuing challenges that hinder this process, including a notion and methodology of inculturation which can be “unilateral and a kind of an imposition on the receiving culture which possesses its own customs and practices.” He then proposes “dialogic integration” as a practical application of FABC’s inculturation principle in pedagogical renewal and elaborates a number of concrete ways on how to apply this in the catechetical ministry. – from the Editor’s Preface
