Ramil R. Marcos (“The Theology of Mercy in the Life and Teachings of Pope Francis”) discusses various factors that influenced Pope Francis to make God’s mercy the guiding light in the exercise of his pastoral ministry. Marcos examines the development of the Pope’s interest in this subject by exploring not only his teachings and writings but also his personal life-witness. Francis has not only spoken frequently on God’s love and mercy but also shown us—by his own gestures and actions—how divine solicitude and compassion can be shown toward our neighbor, especially the poor, the marginalized, and the oppressed. – F. Ramirez (ed.)
