Fr. Hoan Chinh Tran SJ’s “The FABC Vision of Dialogue as an Appropriate Approach for the Catholic Church in Vietnam in Its Mission of Evangelization Today” sees the path of dialogue as a way to bridge the gap between the Catholic Church and the State in Vietnam created by centuries of colo- nization and conflict and resurging every now and then in the form of tensions with the Communist government despite the steady growth of the local Church in the country. Digging deep into the FABC documents for its rich insights on the theology of dialogue, he proposes it as a viable approach char- acterized by three foundational elements: embracing dialogue not only as a methodology but as an approach or overall disposition, maintaining a humble attitude of receptivity and openness, and trusting in the immanence and guidance of the Holy Spirit. – from the Editor’s Preface
